HIGH SCHOOL STATE TEAM ELIGIBILITY RULES

• Only male students grades 8-12 may participate.   

​

• Upper-level teams from each county are invited to compete and must qualify according to UBVA eligibility rules.

​

• The State Tournament will be an AAU event: all athletes/coaches will need AAU membership to participate. Many athletes will already have AAU memberships from the fall club season and those who are not registered can easily become so between the time the team is invited and when the tourney begins.

​

• In an effort sanction Boy's Volleyball in Utah and provide better structure to UBVA "High School" programming, UBVA will make its best efforts to align any policy's and proceedures with that of the Utah High School Athletic Associations current policy's and guidelines.

• In order to preserve the integrity of a high school league and differentiate it from the fall club season, high school teams must adhere to school boundary rules.  Teams not meeting the following criteria will not be allowed to participate in the state tournament and there will be no exceptions:

​

      1. Boys must play for the team that represents the high school in which they attend academically or which they will attend if in Jr high.

​

      2. If a boy's school is not represented by a team, he may play for any school within the public school district boundaries in which his school of attendance is physically located.  If his district our county is not represented by any teams, a boy may play in any participating district or county.

​

      3. If a school is represented by more than one team, players from that school's additional teams are allowed to join its qualifying team for the state competition. (For example: a coach may pull up players from his school's B team to play up with his top A team).

​

These rules are for the state tournament only.  League directors may have variations for their season play but UBVA reserves the right to supercede county/league exceptions for State play.  Coaches should contact UBVA for any questions regarding team eligibility for the state tournament.
